Day 3: Fairbanks and the Midnight Sun

Today marks Day 3 in Alaska, the Summer Solstice and Father's Day.

Apparently, that's a pretty big deal in these parts as there are Solstice festivals (aka, reasons to drink one's self silly and call in sick on Monday) in most places. None is like Fairbanks where the 104th Midnight Sun Game was played between the Lake Erie Monarchs and the hometown Alaska Goldpanners. In 104 years, the game has NEVER used artificial lighting and tonight continued the streak.

And what would one of my trips be without pictures of hotties? Would I let you down? NEVER! Here's a glimpse into the lives of an North Central Alaskan father and son celebrating Father's Day by enjoying the Midnight Sun Game. Aren't they cute?
Click HERE to see a day's worth of beauty and a night's worth of a much different kind of "beauty."

Bonus Video from the Midnight Sun Game. Bullpen pitcher's routine after a teammate's hit, strikeout or an out.
Tomorrow, or should I say, later this morning, we will be heading to Denail National Park via the Alaska Railways. It will rock like a Jovi concert.

Where were the mascots? Did they not even have a hot dog walking around?

The train ride is making me sad...I had visions of me on that one!

I've heard there are a lot of single men in Alaska. I thought it was because of a shortage of women there.
This is photographic evidence of ONE reason for BOTH of these issues.
(Those hats also remind me of a lovely gift someone gave us when we got married. At least his hat didn't have a plastic ball & chain glued it it, nor tulle to hers)

Julia-
This is making me sad for you, too. I am jealous of the awesome vacation, and I wasn't even supposed to be there.
