Today's drive was even less eventful than yesterday's, so I'll note something that struck me as odd. Yesterday, I saw only five cops in 709 miles of driving and they were all in Ohio. And three of those were in construction zones. Today, I saw only one cop and it was a sheriff getting onto the highway at one exit in Illinois and off at the next. Law enforcement was not out in full force this weekend. Good thing too since I had the bodies of those NASCAR losers in the trunk. That could've gotten awkward.
So here's the rest of the story:
Departure time: 10:33 a.m. EST (from Indianapolis, Indiana)
Arrival time: 2:30 p.m. CST (to St. Louis Hills yo)
Today's mileage: 277 miles
Total mileage: 4,481 miles (According to Hertz, we drove 4,517 miles, but I didn't count the 36 miles back and forth from the airport.)
Gas Stats: 130.563 gallons purchased; $354.14 spent; Low - $2.58 in Chambersburg, MD; High - $2.86 in Binghamton, NY; Average - $2.71
Tolls paid: $0 baby! We don't play that crap in the Lou. (Yet.)
Sirius Satellite highlights: Here's the thing about Sirius 80s on 8, 90s on 9 or whatever else. It's great because there are no commercials, right? Yes, that's true, it is quite sweet. And 80s on 8 has all of the original MTV V-jays, which is a bonus, but they repeat songs just as bad as any Justin Beiber-playing pop station out there. I heard Come On Eileen 57 times in the last three days. Long story short, sadly, I stopped paying attention.
Number of Times Bono has mocked us with a U2 song: See explanation above. Bono could have been in the back seat whispering Sweetest Thing nothings in my ear and I wouldn't have noticed a thing. Thanks Hertz for the free Sirius...now I know not to waste my coin on that drivel.
Fun Photo of the Day:
Birds I did not run over in the driveway.

Next Stop: We're taking my nieces and sister to Chicago for the first time ever in a few weeks. The Bad Kids have been saving their pennies and planning like crazy on the interwebs. Then we return to the NYC area on July 2o, 2011 for our rescheduled U2 concert. I hope Bono's stubbed toe is fully healed before then. Looks like we're going to Cooperstown in 2011, but not during Induction week - I tell you what. Hey, Papa Thomas, how far do you think we won't go next year?! Nothing but love, Papa T!
