Day 14: Zion (cont.) and Bryce Canyon

Fun Fact #1: The odometer rolled past 4,500 miles for our trip today.
Fun Fact #2: Bryce Canyon National Park is now my 2nd favorite National Park behind only Joshua Tree in California. Visiting Bryce was one of my life long goals since I was 17. Today, it finally got checked off the list.
Fun Fact #3: The brawl video now stands at 3,592 views. We have a bet going on whether it surpasses the number of total miles driven for the trip.

Today was the best day of our trip and again, I don’t have too much to say as I think the photos truly are worth a thousand words. Click HERE to see them.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we went back to Zion because we just didn’t feel like we saw enough. We made the 30 minute drive and got there around 10 a.m. only to encounter a line of traffic at least 50 cars deep. Remember that super awesome, money saving National Parks pass? Well we not only saved another $25 with it, but we were able to bypass most of the traffic too. It was either the pass or they recognized my extreme coolness. I’m guessing the latter.

We parked and climbed aboard the shuttle en route to the Temple of Sinawava. That’s as far as the shuttle bus goes in the park and it was pretty sweet. We stayed at Zion for a few hours and then headed off to the site of one of my life long goals: Bryce Canyon National Park, the #1 highlight of the trip.It beats the brawl, the rain out, the Thai food and PGE Park in Portland, Old Faithful, etc. You get the idea. This place rocks. Get it? Rocks? Bryce is a canyon and it rocks. Sometimes I guffaw. Anyway…

As those who know me are aware, I’m not the most religious man (to say the least), but if you visit Bryce Canyon National Park and still don’t think there’s a God that created all of this over millions of years (or 6,000), then you have serious issues. It doesn’t matter if you were once Catholic (like me), you read the Koran, the Torah or the Book of Mormon; stumbling upon Inspiration Point at Bryce should humble even the most devout Atheist. Why God would create such a thing, I’m not sure, but I’m sure glad he did. That being said (and as Mega would say), that’s it, I’m done. There are 70 photos, mostly of Bryce, but I want you to promise not to rush through them. There is too much natural beauty, both in the splendor of this earth and the hotties who inhabit it. See today’s Zion and Bryce photos HERE.

Oh, and Happy 4th of July!Next stop: Day 15 and something Mormon and the Salt Lake Bees.

This is very educating. You are going to places I never knew existed. Thanks for the tour.

I burst out laughing at the comment about that you didn't have the heart to tell the woman she'd been shot in the head.

You have discovered my other job -- on weekends I commute to Utah and drive a National Parks Service bus. It's the best gig ever!
