On This Date in Baseball: October 27

1985 - The Kansas City Royals, behind Bret Saberhagen's five-hitter, beat the St. Louis Cardinals 11-0 in Game 7 of the World Series. This Cubs-like collapse would elicit tears from my eyes deep into the 90s. (See boo-hooing Cubs fan from my October 14 post - change the gender and the jersey and that's me.) I can't even post a picture of those baby blue bastards hoisting the trophy as I will still weep in shame. Meanwhile Kansas City residents still view it as the second coming of Christ. They have to. Their teams have continued to suck royally since.
